EX2100 Excitation System Advanced

This course provides a solid background in advanced EX2100 Digital Excitation System maintenance and troubleshooting using the Control System Toolbox.

Course Content

This course is oriented for participants who have previously attended an EX2100 class and who wish to learn more about the EX2100 system and the Control System Toolbox. The training is divided equally between classroom theory and practical lab exercises. Through classroom presentations and discussions, the student will learn advanced theory and operation of the EX2100. In the lab, each student will work with EX2100 hardware to complete practical lab exercises designed to teach advanced EX2100 troubleshooting and maintenance techniques.

  • Replacing and configuring the processor cards online
  • Signal flow tracing through the Excitation and communication system
  • Software changes, including injection of a step function into the AVR regulator
  • Trending and recording data, including high speed capture buffer data collection
  • Fault troubleshooting
  • Configuring and troubleshooting the communication network
Prerequisites
  • Attendance in the EX2100 Maintenance and Troubleshooting Course.
  • Participants should be very familiar with a Microsoft® Windows® operating system.
  • Participants are encouraged to research their turbine-generator equipment and documentation to verify they have an EX2100 on their unit and to bring a copy of their system elementary drawing with them to class.
