Transformer Cooling Systems

Dependable and Cost-Effective

Since revolutionizing transformer cooling processes in 1937 with the introduction of forced-oil forced-air (FOA) cooling systems for power transformers, GE has continued to drive the industry with a wide range of cooling options that can address the needs of almost all transformers in use today.

Cooling Systems

Forced-Oil Forced-Air (FOA) Cooling Systems

GE's forced-oil, forced-air system is one of the most utilized cooling systems in the industry. The cooling system is available not only for all large power transformers but also for smaller units. Here are some of the benefits of the system:

  • Greater capacity
  • Emergency self-cooled operation
  • Smaller space requirements
Forced-Oil-Water Cooling Systems

GE's forced-oil-water-cooling system dissipates heat by circulating the oil through external oil-to-water heat exchangers. The transformer oil is effectively cooled by contact with the outer surface of a number of tubes through which cold water is forced. Here are some of the benefits of the system:

  • Trouble free operation
  • Self-cooled operation
