DOHA Conference on Natural Gas

This conference is part of the biennial DOHA International Oil and Gas Exhibition, which has been growing steadily since 1995. This year’s theme, “Stretching Frontiers,” was an appropriate subject for Qatar, where huge investments are being made in technology. More than 100 local and international companies participated, with 40 industry experts and corporate executives gave addresses during the four days.

GE Energy showcased our innovative contributions in two areas: the development of “super trains” based on the 120-MW class GE Frame 9 gas turbines, for production of LNG; and the parallel development of large-scale compression trains to improve the economics of current gas-to-liquids (GTL) plants.

Piero Salvadori, chairman of our oil and gas business said “We are here to promote the idea that GTL is a commercially attractive and environmentally clean way of delivering natural gas to new markets. Large-scale technology solutions are the key to higher efficiency and greater profitability. There’s no doubt that participants in this conference understand that and see GE Energy as a prime source for the business solutions they need.
