High voltage frame supports pass through large opening in hot roof. Dust and acidic process gases can flow up through the opening. GE's Top Hat Seals cover opening and prevent blow-by of gases into the compartments. Top Hats also reduce the amount of purge air needed.

Poor weight designs result in a loss of wire stability and lead to heavy sparking. GE's weights feature a sloping, rotating socket that keeps wires taut and straight without bending. The V-type anti-sway device is the best way to maintain alignment of discharge electrodes relative to the plate. Post and blade anti-sway designs are also available.
