AQUAOIL 400 Sensors

Continuous Online Moisture Management

Online monitoring of moisture in transformer oil is essential for the evaluation of the overall condition of transformers. Based on proven technology and using a capacitive humidity sensor, GE produces and supplies a rugged instrument for online monitoring of water in transformer oil.

Features & Benefits

The AQUAOIL 400 system is a stand-alone unit for field installation on a transformer valve. It allows the user to monitor online the relative humidity in the oil and its changes during load variation. The AQUAOIL 400 is a valuable tool in warning the following hazardous conditions:

  • Ingress of moisture in transformers (through breathing system or bushing seals)
  • Temporary high relative humidity conditions during cooling cycle
  • Abnormal rate of paper degradation by detecting an increase of the overall moisture content in the transformer
  • Detection of high water content in the solid insulation system

The AQUAOIL 400 system is used for:

  • Online detection of potentially dangerous conditions coming from a sudden increase of moisture and leading to the reduction of the dielectric properties of the insulation system
  • Detection of any increase or ingress of moisture in the insulation system
  • Determination of the moisture content in solid insulation
  • Determination of oil temperature at which water dissolved in the oil will condense
