LTC-MAP Monitoring Systems

Economical Monitoring of Transformers

The Load Tap Changer-Maintenance Action Planner (LTC-MAP) monitoring systems analyze transformer and load tap changer performance parameters and report operating condition alerts and alarms.

LTC-MAP Models

LTC-MAP 2130

The LTC-MAP 2130 system provides the information to extend maintenance intervals, improve the reliability of LTC transformers and be alerted to potential operational problems. The diagnostic system includes an online monitoring program using a personal computer and SAGE™ equipment analysis software. The software program alerts you to impending problems:

  • Flexible set-up and configuration of the monitor
  • Only data not previously transmitted is received by the host PC
  • Password protection at the monitor level
  • Two alarm relays can provide contact closure to notify SCADA of alarms
  • Results of statistical analyses are available for graphing, alarming or alerting

The following statistical processes are available:

  • Standard temperature index calculations: The difference in temperature between the LTC compartment and the main tank over a specified period of time.
  • Standard temperature differential calculation: The difference in temperature between the LTC compartment and the main tank.
  • Advanced differential calculation: Compares any two sensor inputs for differential, averages differential and moving window index.
  • Advanced moving window calculations: For any sensor input, shows the moving average, moving maximum, moving minimum, moving trend and moving normal deviation.
LTC-MAP 2115

The LTC-MAP 2115 system is part of the “2000” series of LTC monitoring products. It monitors temperature deltas, temperature indices and control circuits and can be upgraded to the LTC-MAP 2130. As compared to the 2130, the 2115 does not have voltage inputs, does not take in digital inputs and has a single alarm lamp and relay and one load current input while the 2130 has two and three, respectively.

LTC-MAP 1525

The LTC-MAP 1525 monitoring system reports operating condition alerts and alarms through front-panel LED indicators and relay contact outputs. Monitor and sensor configuration, calibration and data retrieval are accomplished through a serial port on the monitor using a portable computer running SAGE or SAGE Express software.

  • Easy to install while the transformer is online
  • Quantifies contact wear
  • Identifies neutral switch inactivity, a cause of coking
  • Verifies proper operation
  • Identifies motor and mechanical problems
  • Avoids false alarms
