EPA and ASTM performance testing

The U.S. Environmental Agency (EPA) provided fabric filter manufactures with the chance to test efficiency and pressure drop under the Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Program. Each manufacturer was provided two opportunities for independent testing.

Woven fiberglass with BHA-TEX® membrane (AG061), and polyester felt with BHA-TEX membrane (QP131) were tested.

  • BHA-TEX membrane on fiberglass QG061 showed zero emissions during testing. Emissions data were below the detection limits of the testing equipment.
  • BHA-TEX membrane on polyester felt QP131 had extremely low emissions (PM 2.5) as well: 0.0000029 grains/dscf (0.038 milligrams/dscm)

The test method used for testing is the "VDI 3926, Part 2" which is described in the linked documents. This test method has been approved by the American Society of Testing and Materials and is now known as "ASTM D6830".
