STS SpiroTube Filters

A Low Maintenance, High Efficiency Solution

STS filter elements consist of spirotubes (spiral formed tubes) that are usually arranged in steel or aluminum frames, but can also be used individually. STS filter elements can replace expensive, fragile, low-surface area, sintered plastic filter elements.

The one-piece, self-supporting spirotubes are made of spun bonded polyester media laminated with BHA-TEX® expanded PTFE membrane. Seams are thermally bonded to ensure airtight construction.

The unique shape of the spirotube provides excellent dust collection with a very low-pressure drop. The different diameters of the STS spirotubes provide an optimal relationship between the total unit area and the open area between the tubes. This decreases face velocities and increases airflow in four directions between the elements, enabling better control of the airstream velocities and increased dust release capacities.

Benefits

  • Low pressure drop, even at high air-to-cloth ratios
  • Very low emissions of less than 1.0 mg/Nm3 due to the 99.99+% efficiency of the expanded microporous structure of the BHA-TEX membrane
  • Excellent dust release characteristics resulting in increased airflow and reduced differential pressure
  • One-piece design eliminates the need for support cages
  • Snap-in fit reduces installation time
  • Spirotubes can be replaced individually, reducing costs
STS filter elements can be used in new installations or as replacements for existing installations with sintered filter elements or various envelope type filters.

Applications

Compact filter technology is used in applications such as powder coating systems, porcelain enamel, laser and plasma cutting systems, the chemical industry, and the pharmaceutical industry. STS filter elements can be configured to fit OEM models such as:
  • American Air Filter Design M Fabri-Pulse®
  • Herding/Eisenmann's Sinter-plate systems
