Detectors for Neutron Scattering

Position Sensitive Detectors

Position Sensitive, High Performance

GE offers the Reuter Stokes helium-3 filled position sensitive detectors designed specifically for applications including small angle neutron scattering, powder diffraction, nuclear material assay and industrial process control. As one of our most widely used position detectors, These counters are known for their precision performance and matching, position sensitivity and customization.

Features and Benefits

Our position sensitive proportional counter uses a highly resistive anode of nickel-chrome, which helps determine positioning of the neutron event along the anode. Position resolution is typically 0.1 to 0.2 inches (2.5 to 5.0 mm). The charge division method of determining position resolution is recommended. It is important to match the detector-preamplifier-amplifier electrical characteristics properly to determine accurate position resolution. Proportional counters are available in diameter of 0.5 to 2 inches (12.7 to 50.8 mm) in sensitive lengths of 4 to 40 inches (101,6 to 1,016 mm). Construction can be either 304 stainless steel or 1100 aluminum.

Custom Designs

This proportional counter is one sample of the more than 10,000 neutron counter designs we have developed. Please contact us if your application requires modification of the specifications.
