Boron-10 Proportional Counter

Sensitive and Durable

With the proper electronics, GE's Reuter Stokes Boron-10 proportional counter, is operable in a gamma flux of 10³ R/hr with about 50 percent loss in neutron sensitivity. This sensitivity loss is due to the higher discriminator setting that is necessary to cut out the piled-up gamma pulses. This also cuts out the smaller neutron pulses.

Features and Benefits

GE manufactures the Reuter Stokes Boron-10 lined proportional counter. With high temperature capabililty, low voltage operation, and trouble-free operation in an established installed base, thie detector is ideal for applications such as neutron surveys.

  • High temperature capabilities
  • Low operating voltage requirements make the 10B-lined counter a good choice for neutron survey meters
  • High gamma flux operation with reasonable neutron sensitivity
Custom Designs

This proportional counter is one sample of the more than 10,000 neutron counter designs we have developed. Please contact us if your application requires modification of the specifications.
