Directional Module

Exceptional Accuracy and Reliability

The directional modules are used in downhole drilling applications. They provide accurate and stable survey measurements without exceeding the minimal power consumption requirements of the downhole environment.

Features and Benefits

The directional module assembly contains:

  • Single-port MPU
    - A modular micro-controller assembly based on the Motorola® MC68HC11 microprocessor that implements qMIX communications protocol (qMIX/11).
  • Triple power supply
    - Provides regulated power for the complete assembly. Both durable and reliable, it is a power-efficient tool, adjustable from an external control with three outputs: +5 Vdc, +13 Vdc and -13 Vdc.
  • Digital orientation module
    - Designed specifically for the demands of the oil and gas drilling environment, it contains three axes of accelerometers and three axes of magnetometers with calibration data provided with each unit.

Configurations are available with a downhole recorder and a maximum operating temperature of 302 or 347 °F (150 or 175 °C).

  • Provides accurate and stable survey measurements
  • Consumes minimal power, meeting the downhole requirements
  • Integrates superior GE measurement tools to produce optimal results
  • Delivers reliability in extreme environments; validated using the HALT design method
