The following is a list of the known issues with GateCycle software Version 5.41 at the time of its release. 1. Some users may see "Old file not found" or "File contents do not match" messages when attempting to install the version 5.41 patch. These errors can occur on systems that were upgraded from a previous version of GateCycle or where date and time stamps on GateCycle program files have been altered. The patch is not applied if either error occurs. To apply the patch in this situation, follow these steps:
2. If you click Register License, you see a "Network_Bad_Reply" CrypKey error on Microsoft® Windows NT® or Windows® 2000 operating systems. To correct this problem, please see the support topic on this subject. 3. Installing Microsoft Outlook® overwrites newer ODBC drivers. If you install Microsoft Outlook after GateCycle software has been installed, the ODBC drivers used by the Optimization feature are overwritten by the Outlook installation program, causing SQL errors when you attempt to use the optimization feature. To work around this issue, you must reinstall GateCycle after you install Outlook. Please see the support topic on this subject. 4. Fluidized bed and fossil boiler models using solid fuel give different results. In versions prior to 5.4x, the carbon content of the ash was wrong, so the energy balance around the fossil or fluidized bed boiler was wrong. The margin of error was about one percent for default inputs for solid fuels. Version 5.4x fixes this issue, so its results are correct. Models built and run in an earlier version should be rerun. 5. Fluidized bed and fossil boiler models using gaseous fuel may calculate boiler air flow differently. In versions prior to 5.4x, the air flow calculation for fluidized bed or fossil boilers burning gaseous fuel with an H-C ratio other than 4.0 was incorrect. Version 5.4x fixes this issue, so its results are correct. Models built and run in an earlier version should be rerun. 6. Model diagrams exported to the Windows clipboard using the command WMF Export to Clipboard have graphical problems not seen in previous versions. Streams have odd shadow effects and stream labels appear even if the hide stream labels checkbox is checked. Similarly, diagrams printed when the hide stream labels checkbox is checked are missing lines on the printout. These issues are caused by the new Provision libraries used in version 5.40. To work around these issues, change your flowsheet color to white by clicking Tools, Options, Colors before printing or exporting a model diagram. 7. CycleLink's right-click (contextual) menus do not work in Microsoft Excel 2000. To work around this issue, use the CycleLink menu instead. 8. When CycleLink is started in Microsoft Excel 2000, it appears to do nothing. As an unsigned Excel add-in, CycleLink is not loaded if Excel 2000 is configured to use high security. To work around this issue, click Tools, Macro, Security and select the Medium Security radio button. See the support topic for more details. 9. Some disk defragmentation programs move GateCycle licensing files, causing a loss of your license. To avoid this problem please visit this page for tips on configuring common disk defragmentation programs for use with GateCycle software for Microsoft Windows. Note: Many laptops run disk defragmentation programs automatically. If you install GateCycle on a laptop, please check for automatically scheduled defragmentation before registering your license. 10. An incorrect unit of measurement appears on the valve screen when you switch the outlet pressure method to fractional pressure drop for the first time. The next time you open this screen, the behavior is correct. This bug has no influence on calculations. 11. The pipe icon prevents a pressure signal from arriving at its outlet port in off-design if the Pressure Change Method design point is set to Outlet Pressure. To work around this problem, temporarily clear the Off-design checkbox and change the Pressure Change Method design point to any method other than Outlet Pressure. 12. When you use the Help button for the first time in any equipment icon data entry screen, a "gcw-help.hlp help file not found" message may appear, and ask you to find the file yourself. If this occurs, click Yes; then navigate to the gcw-help.hlp file in the Help subdirectory of theGateCycle installation directory. After you have located the gcw-help.hlp file, the problem should not reoccur. Please see the support topic on this subject. 13. OLE objects, such as bitmaps embedded on the flowsheet, cannot be resized. This is a provision issue and is beyond our control. There is no workaround at this time. 14. New models built in version 5.30 that use the vertical HRSG icon set or the vertical evaporator display trigger an illegal operation when opened with version 5.4x. Please send models with this problem to ge-enter.support@ps.ge.com and we will repair them for you. See the support topic for more details. 15. If you originally installed GateCycle software using the version 5.30 CD, you may see a series of DAO errors when you attempt to generate a grid report. This problem is a result of a bad DAO setup program supplied by Microsoft and included on the version 5.30 CD. Please visit the support topic for instructions on correcting the problem. 16. Version 5.4x allows you to select different effectiveness NTU relationships in the heat exchanger (HEATX), superheater (SPHT) and economizer (ECON) icons for new configurations that were previously unsupported. If you use the new configurations, entering an off-design area change fraction on the Area Change screen will have no effect. There is no workaround for this issue at this time. You must use the "Cross-Counter-Current, 1 tube row total, Outer flow mixed, Inner only mixed between passes" configuration if you want to apply an area change fraction in any of these icons. 17. Fraction of tubes blocked input in Condenser does not influence the tube velocity of the circulating water correctly. This bug affects the results of models that use an HEI off-design method and a nonzero value for the fraction of tubes blocked input. There is no workaround for this issue at this time. 18. If you upgrade from a previous version of GateCycle, you may see GTDATA input warnings that were not given prior to version 5.4x. The following warnings appear when a model with a GTDATA icon using the GT Curve Set method and a pre 5.4x curve set table is run in version 5.4x: ** WARNING - GTD1 GTDATA Base Rating Table Fuel LHV - Input Out of Range Version 5.41 includes new correction curves for Fuel LHV, Relative Speed/Frequency and Power Factor. Prior versions did not have these corrections, so GT curve set tables from prior versions have 0.00 as the rating values for these quantities. To prevent the warning, edit the curve set's rating point. Default rating point values are 21,500 Btu/lb for LHV, 1.0 for Relative Speed/Frequency and 0.8 for Power Factor. 19. Tight (less than the default of 0.0001) property tolerances can cause equipment warnings not seen when models were run in previous versions. This situation is most likely to occur in models that use GTCOMP or GTTURB icons. As a workaround, perform one of the following actions
