About the Patch

This patch upgrades your GateCycle 5.40 installation to version 5.41. You must have GateCycle version 5.40 installed to use this patch. Do not apply this patch to pre-5.40 versions of GateCycle. This patch does not affect your current GateCycle copy protection, and it supports both the software-based (Crypkey®) and the hardware-based (Hardlock) copy protection systems.

Terms and Conditions

Only organizations with a current maintenance contract for GateCycle software with GE may legally download and apply the patch software. All licensing arrangements previously signed remain in effect with this upgrade. This patch software is provided as a courtesy to our customers. Version 5.41 is not a major release, so it will not be sent automatically to all of our maintenance customers.

How to Upgrade

1. Review the list (below) of major fixes and new features included in the patch.

2. Review the list of known issues before applying this patch:

3. Download the ZIP archive containing patch to your hard drive and extract it:

4. Close all applications.

5. From Windows Explorer, double-click on the file GCW41.exe to run the self-extracting utility.

6. The self-extracting utility asks you to enter the path to your GateCycle software. The default path is C:\Program Files\GE Enter Software\GateCycle. If you did not install GateCycle software into this default directory, enter the directory you specified during installation. After you have provided the correct GateCycle software directory, the upgrade files are copied to the appropriate subdirectories.

GateCycle Version 5.41 Features

The following is a list of the new features added in the 5.41 patch:
1. The Data Gas Turbine allows a power factor correction.
2. The Data Gas Turbine allows a specific humidity correction.
3. The Data Gas Turbine allows for two-dimensional steam/water injection correction tables.
4. The Data Gas Turbine's "Specify Heat Rate" calculation method has a fuel flow input.
5. The GTTURB icon can pass a mass flow signal upstream.
6. The GASSAT icon can pass a mass flow signal upstream on the gas side.
7. The AIREJC icon can pass mass flow signals through its water side.

GateCycle Version 5.41 Major Bug Fixes

The following is a list of the major fixes contained in the 5.41 patch.
1. General: Pressure control stability and convergence problems have been fixed. Models that ran in pre 5.40 versions but not in 5.40 should work once more.
2. General: Access violations on opening a model that had no prior problems no longer occur.
3. DUCT: Off design correlation parameters can now be changed and saved from the input screen.
4. DUCT: Design pressure drop is now properly displayed in the macro editor screens.
5. Macro: The system variables Steam Cycle shaft Power and Cycle Power Requirement may now be used in a macro without causing a warning message concerning their units of measure.
6. Macro: Method and Character variables are no longer selectable from the add variables dialog box in the macro editor.
7. FLUBED and FBOILR: Use of sorbent no longer causes convergence problems and bad results.
8. FBOILR and FLUBED: The "Carbon Content in Ash" unburned carbon specification method no longer zeroes out the inputs for the Bottom, Econ Hopper, and Collector fractions.
9. AUXBLR: The automatic makeup block now properly accounts for blowdown flow in an AUXBLR icon.
10. ACC: The Bay Width to Length ratio is now properly calculated.
11. ACC: Convergence problems caused by using two fans per bay have been fixed.
12. FWH: Feedwater heater icons are no longer set to the Bypass method when a design point case is copied to an off design case.
13. ST: Condensing sections using the Spencer Cotton Cannon Exhaust loss method incorrectly switched exhaust loss curves when the back pressure rose over 5 in HG abs.
14. ST: Condensing sections using the Spencer Cotton Cannon Exhaust loss method and a non standard (i.e. not listed in the help file) last stage bucket length are no longer subject to an exhaust loss curve selection logic error. This fix may correct results obtained in an earlier version.
15. HEATX, ECON and SPHT: The pure parallel and Cross Con Current flow configurations now give the same results in design and off design cases run for the same input conditions.
16. PIPE: The Run Off Design check box is now automatically checked when the user checks the "set all icons to Off Design in new case" on the "Save As Case" dialog.
17. PIPE: The incorrect Reynolds number calculation has been fixed.
18. FPT Modifier: No longer causes CHKPRT input errors when placed in a mass flow signal path.
19. FPT Modifier: No longer causes access violation when its report is generated.
20. GTCOMP: Power linking (to GTTURB) now works in off design when the Flow/Pressure method is set to "Free Spool, match Pexit and MW".
21. GTCOMP: Backup / Restore and Send model functions now include GTCOMP design point reference model when the "Include Dependent Cases and Tables" check box is checked.
22. SEAL: No longer causes CHKPRT and / or steam path input errors when placed in a mass flow signal path.
23. SEAL: No longer causes access violation when its report is generated.
24. GLDCND: No longer causes CHKPRT input errors when placed in a mass flow signal path.
25. TMIX: The stability of the "Specify Icon for Control Temperature" temperature control method has been improved.
