About This FAQGateCycle software (version 5.30 or later) offers the option of a network-based software license for users who have purchased this capability. The network license allows one or more software licenses to be doled out to individual computers from a central server. When all of the available licenses are in use, users attempting to use GateCycle software will see a message saying that all of the available licenses are in use. Licenses are made available to other computers when an active user exits the GateCycle software. RequirementsTo use the network license feature in GateCycle software you must satisfy the following requirements: 2. Purchase a network license for the appropriate number of users. Please contact the Davis, CA office at (530) 757-1240, fax (530) 757-1571, ge-enter.info@ps.ge.com to discuss network licensing terms. 3. Supply a network license server. This can be almost any computer running the Microsoft® Windows NT®, Windows® 95 or 98 operating system. It must be on the network and its hard drive must be accessible to the computers on which you plan to run GateCycle software. Specifically, each client computer and user must have read and write permissions to the server's GateCycle software installation folder. Contact your network or system administrator for more information on configuring Windows Networking and sharing network folders. 4. Follow the server and client setup instructions given below. License Server SetupFollow these steps to configure a GateCycle software license server. 2. Run the GateCycle software License Manager on the license server to obtain its site ID. Start the GateCycle software and click the Register License button on the Authorization dialog box. The Register License dialog box opens. Note: You may also run the License Manager from within GateCycle software by selecting License Manager from the Tools menu. To run License Manager from the Windows Start menu, select Start, Programs, GE Enter Software, License Manager. 3. Send the License Server's site ID shown in the Register License dialog box to ge-enter.license@ps.ge.com requesting a network (floating) license serial number for the appropriate number of users. It is very important to let us know that you need a network rather than a stand-alone license. 4. When we send the serial number back to you, run the GateCycle License Manager again, enter the serial number, and click Register License. 5. Set sharing privileges on the GCROOT folder you chose in step one so that each client computer has read/write access over the network. Contact your network or system administrator for more information on configuring Windows Networking and sharing network folders. Client SetupFollow these steps to configure each client computer that will use a network license to run GateCycle software: 1. Install GateCycle software on each GateCycle client computer. 2. Start the GateCycle software and click the Use Network License button on the Authorization message box. Note: If a local license is already installed on this computer, the Authorization dialog box will not open. You must first use License Manager to terminate the local license; then close and restart the GateCycle software. The Authorization dialog box opens. 3. Use the Browse for Folder dialog box to select the network license folder you shared on the network license server. Select the "\Program" subfolder of the GCROOT folder on the license server. GCROOT is the name of the GateCycle installation folder you noted in step one of the server setup instructions. 4. Repeat steps one through three on each client computer you want to configure.
