Clicking "Register License" Triggers an Error Message

This Topic Applies to:
GateCycle Software:Version 5.40
Operating Systems:Microsoft® Windows NT® and Windows® 2000
Module:License
Keywords:GateCycle software CrypKey®, License
Symptoms

If you install GateCycle version 5.40 under the Microsoft Windows NT or Windows 2000 operating system, and you have CycleExpress? or a 5.2x version of GateCycle software installed, you will see this error and may lose your license key.

Cause

The problem is caused by the older CrypKey drivers supplied with CycleExpress and GateCycle software version 5.20. Re-installing either of these programs after you install GateCycle software version 5.40 can also cause the problem.

Resolution

Follow these steps to correct the problem:
Note: You must use an account with administrative rights to complete these steps.

1. Stop the CrypKey license service using the "Services" application located in the Windows NT or Windows 2000 control panel.

2. Delete the following files from the \WINNT folder (Note: \WINNT is the folder where the Windows NT or Windows 2000 operating system is installed):

  • ckconfig.exe
  • ckconfig.ini
  • ckrfresh.exe
  • setup_ck.dll
  • setup_ck.exe

3. Delete the following files from the \WINNT\SYSTEM32 folder:
  • ckldrv.sys
  • crypserv.exe
  • esnecil.ind
  • esnecil.nlp

4. Re-install the CrypKey driver using one of the following methods:
  • Re-install GateCycle software Version 5.40, or
  • Run the CrypKey-provided setupex.exe file found in the GateCycle\Program folder. The time stamp on the setupex.exe file should be either 6/13/2000 2:25 AM or 6/12/2000 7:25 PM. If your file has a different time stamp, you do not have the correct version. Complete steps one through three above; then re-install the correct version from the pre-packaged CD.

5. Restart your computer.
