Mark™ VIe DCS Control Solutions

Mark Vie DCS System

One, Reliable, Networked System from Turbine Actuator to Plant Optimization Software

Fast, flexible, networked I/O for turbine, boiler, and balance of plant (BOP) with an advanced software suite and unparalleled life-cycle support.

Overview

Mark VIe is GE's most advanced control system for turbine and balance of plant (BOP) applications including simple cycle, combined cycle, coal fired boilers, nuclear, and integrated gas combined-cycle (IGCC) installations. Its flexible communications are ideally suited for BOP from I/O networks to control networks to plant networks.

Plant solutions include a diverse selection of products, which fully integrate with the Mark VIe including Bently Nevada™ condition monitoring systems, enterprise asset management from the Proficy™ product family and a wide selection of services, studies and training programs.

Control Platform
Product Description

The Mark VIe was introduced in 2004 as a common platform for both turbine and BOP featuring 100% networked I/O on 100MB Ethernet. This flexible platform can distribute individual I/O modules in any redundancy configuration and execute as fast as 10ms. A common software suite, ToolboxST™, is used for turbine, generator, and balance of plant controls for configuration of the complete system from I/O modules to plant operator stations. The open architecture of the Mark VIe seamlessly integrates HART and Profibus fieldbuses.

GE's power plant products range from probes, such as Flame Tracker™ flame sensor, to EX™2100 generator excitation systems, and optimization software, including closed-loop optimal control, or CLOC™, to reduce fuel cost, GenGauge™ fleet dispatch management, and GateCycle™ heat balance software. Today's plant control is a flexible and reliable information system to integrate and optimize the performance of all your plant assets.
Value

The Mark VIe solution delivers all the advantages of common plant control, from the turbine to the boiler and throughout the balance of plant, resulting in lower initial cost and less on-going maintenance, spare parts, and training. The integrated system provides complete time coherent data throughout the plant to optimize performance and quickly and precisely identify abnormalities. You can count on GE's complete package of turbine-generator technology, innovative controls, power plant experience, and global service.

Looking forward, GE is leading with power plant technology to reduce fuel costs, lower emissions, improve reliability, and provide the asset optimization tools you need to compete.
