MS5002E Gas Turbine

High Availability & Reliability

This 30 MW-class machine is designed for low environmental impact and high reliability. It was developed in response to customer demand for a machine in the 30 MW range with low fuel consumption, reduced emissions and high availability and reliability.

The MS5002E has a conservative firing temperature. We used advanced design tools to optimize airfoils, clearances, leakages and the distribution of cooling flows to achieve high efficiency.

Features & Benefits

The MS5002E offers NOx emission levels as low as 25 ppm through the use of a Dry Low NOx emission combustion system derived from the GE DLN2 combustion technology. The design of the MS5002E is being validated through an extensive test program that includes a full-scale test of the axial compressor, rotordynamic system and gas turbine system.

  • 11-stage axial compressor; pressure ratio 17:1
  • Reverse flow, can-annular combustion system with six chambers
  • Two-stage reaction type HP turbine
  • Two baseplate configurations (gas turbine flange-to-flange unit and auxiliary system)
  • Enclosure is integrated with the baseplate, providing maximum accessibility for maintenance
  • Standard configuration: 56.2 by 16.5 by 15.5 ft (17.1 by 5.1 by 4.7 m)
  • Weighs 67 tons (turbine package) and 47 tons (auxiliary package)
  • Dry Low NOx (DLN) combustion system
