Features & BenefitsThe inlet guide vanes and the first six stages of stator vanes are variable. In both stages of the high-pressure turbine, the nozzles and blades are air-cooled. For industrial applications, the nozzles are coated with CODEP, a nickel aluminide-based coating, and the blades are coated with platinum aluminide to improve resistance to erosion, corrosion and oxidation. The six-stage power turbine operates at a nominal speed of 3,600 rpm, making it ideal for 60 Hz generating service. Alternatively, it can be used in 50 Hz service without the need to add a speed reduction gear. The LM2500 can also operate efficiently over a cubic load curve for mechanical drive applications. The 22.0 MWe/31,200 shp LM2500 gas turbine is the most experienced high-efficiency gas turbine in the 20 to 25 MW class. More than 1,700 units are currently in service, which have accumulated more than 33 million operating hours at 98.5 percent documented availability. The LM2500 gas turbine features:
Marine Drive PackageThe aeroderivative LM gas turbine packages are particularly well-suited for marine applications due to their compact size, light weight, low SOx and NOx emissions, high power density and lack of sludge and particulates. The LM2500 has been proven in more than nine million operating hours of marine application. The LM2500 marine drive package is rated at 22.1 MWe with SFC 216 gram/kWh (liquid fuel, 100/250 mm inlet/exhaust losses, 15 °C, 60 percent relative humidity). COGESThe LM2500 is also available as a Combined Gas Turbine Steam and Electric System (COGES). High-pressure, superheated steam is produced from exhaust gas, which is used to power the steam turbine generator set. This arrangement increases system thermal efficiency by 10 to 20 percent. |
