How to Configure Your Browser
The current recommended browser for use with GE's Customer Collaboration is Microsoft® Internet Explorer version 6.0 with service pack 2. It is extremely important to configure your browser to ensure ProjectNet works properly on your system. The following steps assume that you are using Internet Explorer 6.0 on Microsoft Windows® 2000 or XP System.
Check for Administrative Rights
- Click Start
- Click Settings
- Click Control Panel

- Double Click User Accounts

Find your name (may be listed as User ID you use to log in) in the “User Accounts” dialogue box.

In “Group” column, check that you are listed as “Administrator”.
*If you are not assigned to that group, contact your IT group to either change your group, or to perform the configurations for you

Verify Java Installation
- Click Start
- Click Settings
- Click Control Panel
- Double Click Add/Remove Programs

- Search the Add/Remove programs window for any instances of Java,JSE,JDK
- If you find any installed please uninstall by clicking the Remove button

- After all Java is uninstalled please download the correct Java Version by clicking HERE
- Select Windows in the Platform drop down box.
- Leave Multi-language selected in the Language drop down box.
- Put a check mark next to software agreement then click the Continue button
- Click the jre-1_5_0_10-windows-i586-p.exe link under Offline Installation.
- Click Save on the download screen
- In the "Save in" drop down box choose Desktop


- Once the file is downloaded - double click the icon on your Desktop
- Click Run

- Choose Typical Setup
- Click Accept

- When Java has completed installing please click Finished.
- Open Internet Explorer 6
- At the top navigation bar click Tools
- Click Internet Options - The Internet Options Window Opens

- Click Settings in the Temporary Internet files section
- In the Settings Box make sure "Every visit to the Page" is selected

- Click ok
- Click the Security Tab at the top


- Click the Custom Level Button at the bottom
- Follow along with the Screenshots below making sure they match your settings.






1. Now click the OK button which will return you to the Security Tab.

1. Click the Privacy Tab

1. Make sure the Block pop-ups option at the bottom is NOT selected
2. Next click the Advanced button

1. In the Advanced Privacy Settings window, make sure your settings match the above screen.
2. Click the OK button which will bring you back to the Internet Properties window
3. Click the Advanced Tab
4. Scroll down through the options and make sure you match the screenshots below


1. When done changing your settings click the General Tab at the top of the window
2. Click the Delete Cookies Button, on the popup window click ok.
3. Click the Delete Files button, on the popup window select "Delete all offline content"
and click the OK Button

1. At the bottom of the Internet Properties window click the Apply button
2. At the bottom of the Internet Properties window click the OK Button
Your Browser is now configured for ProjectNet. You can login by CLICKING HERE then
click the Login link.
