View directions to the Florence Learning Center

The Florence Learning Center (FLC) is located in the industrial area north of Florence called "Firenze Nova" in front of the GE Energy Oil & Gas factory entrance. It is 15 minutes away from Florence city centre by taxi.

Airports

The Amerigo Vespucci Airport is 15-20 minutes by taxi from the center of Florence and only 5-10 minutes away from the FLC.

The Pisa Airport "Galileo Galilei" is on the west coast 1 hour away from Florence by car (80Km) and 1h 15 min about by train. The railway station located at Pisa Airport is connected to the airport terminal. Trains leave nearly every hour from Pisa Airport to the main Florence train station (Firenze - Santa Maria Novella).

Trains
Santa Maria Novella Train Station is the main station in Florence and it is situated in the city centre. It connects Florence with other Italian and European cities. Trains leave hourly from:
  • Roma is 1H 35 m away
  • Milan is 3H away
  • Bologna is 1H away
  • Pisa is 1H 15 m away

The nearest Station to the Learning Center is Firenze Rifredi. It is 10 minutes walk from the Learning Center. You can also reach it directly from Firenze Santa Maria Novella. Trains going between the two stations leave approximately every 10 minutes during peak hours. The trip is 5 minutes each way.

To use the timetable, however, you have to know the exact Italian names of train stations of interest. Below is a list of the names of the train stations mentioned in this document:
  • Rome's main station: Roma Termini
  • Florence's main station: Firenze S. M. Novella
  • Florence Nuovo Pignone station: Firenze Rifredi
  • Milan's main station: Milano Centrale
  • Pisa Airport: Pisa Aeroporto
Buses

The bus line servicing the Florence Learning Center from the city centre is # 23. In the centre, the bus stop is at the main train station. The direction to follow is "Zona Industriale". Get off at the second to last stop, called "Nuovo Pignone - Capolinea."
The ticket price - one way € 1 (valid for 1 hour).

Tickets are not sold on board; you will need to buy them before getting on the bus to avoid a fine. Tickets can be purchased at the ATAF ticket counters at the main train station, at any kiosk that sells news papers & magazines (called "edicola" in Italian), or at any bar with a black sign with a big white T on it. These bars also sell cigarettes as "T" stands for "Tabaccaio."

Not all taxis accept credit cards. If you need a taxi that will accept credit cards call ahead of time to reserve one.

Transportation
