Since January 2001, the GE Oil & Gas Global Services division has had a specific organization dedicated to serve more than 3,000 installed reciprocating machines. It serves as a single point of contact for reciprocating compressor customers, providing convenient and prompt access for both preventive and emergency maintenance. The range of available services includes:
  • Installation, commissioning and start-up (supervision or turnkey).
  • Technical assistance; event analysis, troubleshooting, operability advice.
  • Parts, overhauls and repairs
  • Revamping/upgrading of existing units
  • Conversions, modifications & uprates

GE is constantly developing leading edge solutions to inject the latest technology and processes available into the installed base of machines. As an example, GE was one of the first companies to use a continuous monitoring system for small and big end bearings. The system is based on passive sensors (no power source necessary) mounted on the connecting rods. The radar unit is installed in a small, safe container, the size of a junction box, placed near the compressor.

The reciprocating compressor service division is GE Oil & Gas Global Services' Center of Excellence for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of machines by major manufacturers, including Worthington®, Dresser®, Sulzer/Bunckhardt®, Couper® and others.
