A new Center of Excellence, to be located in Cairo, will allow GASCO – which operates 4,700 kilometers of pipelines in the region – to enhance its pipeline inspection/integrity management capabilities. GASCO also plans to offer the new center’s services to other operators in the region with the support of PII.

Specifically, PII will help GASCO establish expertise in pipeline integrity management by providing:

• planning services and software
• pipeline cleaning best practices education
• in-line inspection equipment and crew training
• post-inspection evaluation services
• repair/strategic remediation guidance

This framework will help GASCO develop a risk-based pipeline integrity management system that will save the company millions of dollars over the next ten years, compared to standard, prescriptive inspection-repair regimes.

Furthermore, by establishing a new, “in-house” center of excellence, GASCO will be able to offer these services within the region at commercially competitive rates, supported by PII.
