MIDDLE EAST EDITION DECEMBER 2006

Middle East Pipeline Management Summit 2007

WHEN: March 18 - 21, 2007
WHERE:
Le Royal Meridien, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E

Following the tremendous success of the 2006 event, we are proud to be the Silver sponsor for this major event in 2007 – the second annual Middle East summit presented by Oil & Gas IQ.

The 2007 Summit promises to provide highly practical and strategic insights into the pipeline integrity management programs used by key companies in the region, as well as new inspection and remediation technologies, and the latest evolutions in project management – all aimed at helping pipeline managers develop plans for new successes both on and offshore.

In addition to our presentations, networking opportunities and exhibits, we are also extremely excited about our role in the “Pipeline Solution Zone” and look forward to all your questions there.

New technology for monitoring pipeline impacts

As part of the technology program, we have been asked to present a paper on one of our latest service introductions – ThreatScan™ real-time impact monitoring for pipelines.

jeffThird-party damage is still the world's leading cause of pipeline failures. ThreatScan is the first truly effective system for detecting impacts to pipelines and quickly assessing their severity and potential risk. It is an acoustical-based real-time impact monitoring system that combines proprietary sensors with powerful analysis software and close satellite surveillance by GE's 24/7 monitoring centres. With it, operators can know exactly when and where their pipeline have been struck.

The paper will be presented by Jeffrey Johnson who has over 15 years experience in the technology industry and who led our first foray in to right-of-way management services with ThreatScan.

Integrity and Data Management workshop

We are also presenting a two-part workshop on Pipeline Integrity Management and Data Management as a platform to achieve optimised asset performance.

Pipeline Integrity Management

LainThis segment will be presented by Iain Colquhoun, our Principal Consultant for Canada. Iain spent two years heading our North American technical Integrity Services team before starting his current assignment in SE Asia. He has over 30 years experience in pipeline, mechanical and structural engineering, and specializes in the development of risk-based integrity management programs for pipeline systems.

Iain will cover a broad yet detailed range of Pipeline Integrity Management topics, including practical and important benefits, system elements and development approaches, worldwide legal and code requirements, and common pitfalls. We will also demonstrate some PIMS tools and give industry examples of where such systems have been implemented.

Data Management

JayThis segment will be presented by Senior Data Management Consultant Jay Smith. Since 2002, Jay has focused on providing technical and commercial support to our service representatives and customers. He’s been heavily involved with data quality issues in the pipeline industry since 1992 when he coordinated projects including ARCO LA Basin and Gasoducto Transandino in Santiago, Chile. He played a key role in the testing and implementation of GE's PipeView™ Facility and SheetGen software products, and is currently providing data management consulting for various transmission pipeline companies across Europe, Africa, SE Asia, and the Americas.

Jay will cover important aspects of Pipeline Data Management (PDM), including its importance to operability and productivity, system elements and implementation, applications and their benefits, the importance of data models for specific situations, integration of PDM into a company’s wider IT infrastructure, and practical benefits. In addition to demonstrating some of our tools and reviewing real industry examples, we will also connect to a live system.

We look forward to seeing you in Abu Dhabi.
