Steam Condensers

Rugged Machines for Almost Any Application

Air cooled condensers are preferred to water cooled condensers in special environmental or water shortage conditions. GE supplies condensation systems to guarantee your required vacuum level. The system consists of the steam condenser and other items including the vacuum system, hot well, pumps, piping and steam discharge duct. The steam condenser is a type of air-cooled heat exchanger with features such as 35° sloped bundles to reduce the footprint, and 100 percent welded connections to avoid leakage.

Features & Benefits

Design

Designed to proprietary performance design codes, our steam condensers generally include both one-pass pre-condenser bundles and three- to four-pass post-condenser bundles. This arrangement prevents back-flow and freezing at any operating and ambient condition. Our steam condensers have been used successfully from Russia to Sahara Desert climates.

Experience

Our steam condensers have been installed at extreme ambient conditions with temperatures ranging from -40 to 122 °F (-40 to 50 °C).

The modular design allows for easy fitting to various applications, including variable flow. We can also provide the integrated vacuum system including hot well, pumps, piping and steam discharge duct.

  • Incineration: Strongly encouraged for environmental reasons, our steam condensers fit well in limited plot areas.
  • Low temperature: The co-current flow allows condensed steam to meet the upcoming air at its warmest temperature, avoiding ice formation inside tubes.
  • Chemical plant: we have supplied steam condensers for sugar mills, paper mills and other plants of all sizes.
  • Mechanical drive: Our design is extremely flexible to join applications where steam flow is variable, as in mechanical driving.

Applications

  • Waste-to-energy
  • Combined cycle power generation
  • Mechanical drive applications with steam turbines
