Oil Boosting Station

What it is

Oil pipelines are used to transport oil from the production area to the export loading terminal, or to a processing unit, such as a refinery. Oil boosting stations are installed along the pipeline at variable distances, to compensate for the pipeline pressure losses and ensure a constant flow of oil.

How it works

In an oil boosting station, one or more high capacity, single or multistage centrifugal pumps are installed. They can be driven by a gas turbine, or diesel engine, or by an electric motor up to a unit power range of about 30 MW.
