What it is The Land segment is defined as all equipment used in onshore drilling and production. We offer an extensive portfolio of proven systems and products used for Oil and Gas wells ranging from low pressure to 30,000 psi completions. The Land Segment includes: blowout preventers, choke valves, drillstem valves, elastomers, pulsation dampeners, surface wellheads, and surface production equipment.

How it works

Land drilling typically occurs from a mobile rig drilling a stepped and cased hole to production depth. The wellhead is installed to both support the casing strings and for pressure containment of the annulus between the casing strings. Drilling depth can be quite shallow which requires few strings and a small truck rig to >20,000 foot depth, which requires many casing strings and large rigs. Typically, deeper wells will also require equipment suited for high pressures and high temperatures. Wells are completed with a tubing string run to production depth and supported at the wellhead by a tubing hanger. The production zone is isolated and the casing perforated. Above the tubing hanger is an arrangement of valves, known as a tree, to control the flow of production.

In recent years Coil Tubing drilling, Steam Assist production and Mutliwell Pad drilling have gained in popularity. These are specialty versions of the same drilling process.
