BELFORT, FRANCE - April 14, 2008 : – GE Energy's F-class gas turbine technology has been selected for the extension of an existing combined-cycle power plant at Granadilla on Tenerife, one of Spain's Canary Islands.

Under a contract worth more than €90 million, GE Energy will supply Frame 6FA gas turbines and additional equipment and services to Unión Eléctrica de Canarias Generación S.A.U., a wholly owned subsidiary of Endesa, Spain's largest electric utility. The machines will join two other Frame 6FA gas turbines already operating at the site. Including this latest order, GE will have supplied a total of 14 Frame 6FA gas turbines for projects in the Spanish Canary and Balearic Islands.

In addition to the Frame 6FA gas turbines, GE also is supplying a SC5 steam turbine for the Granadilla combined-cycle plant expansion, for an expected total output of nearly 230 megawatts. The facility is expected to enter commercial operation in phases: gas turbines in second quarter 2009 and the steam cycle in third quarter 2010.

The Frame 6FA gas turbines will be manufactured in GE's facility in Belfort, France while the SC 5 steam turbine will be manufactured in GE's steam turbine plant in Schenectady, NY.

The scope of GE's contract also includes generators, gas and steam turbines auxiliaries, heat recovery steam generators, a plant distributed control system, technical advisory services during erection and commissioning, and training.

Tecnicas Reunidas S.A., GE's Spanish consortium partner in this project, willdes ign and supply the balance-of-plant equipment and plans to provide civil works, erection and commissioning of the plant at the site.

The 70-megawatt class Frame 6FA gas turbine, a member of GE's fleet of F technology machines, has surpassed two million hours of commercial service in 50- and 60-hertz applications worldwide. To date, nearly one hundred GE Frame 6FA gas turbines have been ordered or installed for projects around the world, with half of those in Europe.
