ATLANTA, GEORGIA, March 1, 2005: -- GE Energy is supplying its solar energy equipment to Rieger Homes for use in the Chadeayne Woods residential development in Cornwall, New York. GE Energy is providing 2.64 kW roof-mounted solar electric systems featuring GEPV165-M solar power modules as options for 16 homes in the Chadeayne Woods development. The solar modules are connected to the utility's power grid network and the solar-generated power is sent to the homes' utility meter. Each GE Energy GEPV165-M solar power module generates a peak power of 165 watts at 25 volts. The solar equipment was manufactured at GE Energy's Newark, Del. facility and delivered in October 2004. The project's total solar power output is expected to be about 3,050 kWh annually. GE Energy is supplying its solar electric systems through Prime Energy Solutions, Inc. Prime Energy designs and installs renewable energy systems for residential and business clients and is a solar distributor for GE Energy, covering all of New York. "Prime Energy has been installing solar electric systems across New York for six years and has worked with nearly a dozen new home builders. Homebuilders and home owners are very happy to have a company that already has experience with providing them with technology that helps to manage variable energy costs. Using solar power helps to control growing utility bills with easy to use, near zero maintenance technology," said Mark Smith, president of Prime Energy Solutions. Chadeayne Woods is located in the town of Cornwall approximately 50 miles north of New York City on a beautiful wooded bluff near the Hudson River. The residential community is served by Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation. "We chose GE Energy to provide the grid-tied solar modules because of the company's solid service and experience," said Ian Rieger, president of Rieger Homes. "Rieger Homes is confident in GE Energy's ability to provide quality solar products that meet the needs of our environmentally aware and energy conscious consumers." "GE is committed to providing residential home builders and future homeowners with safe, reliable solar technologies that will serve them well for decades to come," said Ali Iz, general manager, GE Energy's solar technologies division. GE Energy's current range of solar energy products includes solar cells, modules and pre-packaged systems. The modules range from 35 to 165 watts, while system designs can range from hundreds of watts to megawatts and can be used in either on-grid or off-grid applications.
