HOUSTON, TEXAS, February 22, 2005: -- GE Energy was awarded a two-year extension to its four-year contract with Norsk Hydro ASA, Statoil ASA and Esso Norge AS to provide maintenance services for 95 LM2500 and two LM1600 aeroderivative gas turbines. Part of a pool of engines owned by the three companies, the 97 aeroderivative gas turbines are located on 33 different offshore platforms throughout the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Under the terms of the agreement, GE Energy provides routine and major maintenance services including field service and light, medium and heavy overhauls. GE Energy provides most of the maintenance at its Agotnes, Norway Center of Excellence. The 95 LM2500 and two LM1600 aeroderivative gas turbines are used for gas compression, as well as power generation to cover platform demand. Natural gas will serve as the primary fuel, with diesel serving as a backup. "We are pleased that Norsk Hydro, Statoil and Esso Norge decided to lengthen their contract with GE Energy.
