GE Supplies LM 6000 Gas Turbines For Industrial Power Station In Turkey MANAMA, BAHRAIN (September 13, 2004) GE Energy was recently awarded a contract to supply aeroderivative gas turbine-generators to Habas Sinai ve Tibbi Gazlar Istihsal Endustrisi A.S. of Istanbul, Turkey. Under the terms of the contract, GE has provided four 48-megawatt LM6000-PC NDW Sprint® gas turbine-generator packages for use at the Habas Sinai ve Tibbi Gazlar Istihsal Endustrisi A.S. industrial facility in Aliaga/Izmir, Turkey. The turbine-generator packages will be used for combined-cycle power generation, providing power to the Aliaga/Izmir facility. The turbines, packaged at the GE Energy facility in Houston, Texas, are equipped with water injection for NOx reduction. Natural gas serves as the primary fuel, while diesel provides backup. Three of the units have been running in simple-cycle commercial operation since the beginning of 2004. With delivery of the fourth unit, the facility will operate in combined cycle in September of this year. The two steam turbine generators for this combined-cycle plant will be delivered by GE Energy's facilities in LeCreusot, France. Financing for this transaction is structured as co-financing between the U.S. Ex-Im Bank and Coface of France with the corporate credit of Habas Sinai ve Tibbi Gazlar Istihsal Endustirsi A.S. The U.S. Ex-Im Bank is leading the co-financing transaction on behalf of the ECA group by providing its guarantee for the whole transaction, backed by Coface's counter-guarantee for its portion of the project scope. The loan will have a grace period equal to the construction period of the project and a repayment period of 10 years.
