GE Energy Announces Release of Smallworld Schematics Generator™ 4 ATLANTA, GEORGIA (April 27, 2004) — GE Energy has announced the release of the Smallworld Schematics Generator™ 4 application, which leverages the latest architectural technology from the Smallworld 4 software product suite. The Smallworld Schematics Generator 4 product takes the existing geographical representation of a utility or telecommunications network and automatically generates a schematic layout of the data. The schematics created are critical to business activities such as operational decision-making, network planning and maintenance. “Smallworld Schematics Generator 4 is a significant development for the marketplace,” stated Ricardo Artigas, president, energy services for GE Energy, based in Atlanta, GA. “The latest version of this product includes 50 new features that help to enable utility and telecommunications companies to generate accurate, compact and readable schematics of their geographic network. The value is that a schematic is a much simpler representation of a network and enables important information such as capacity requirements, load balances, routing and component relationships to be more quickly ascertained when compared to conventional geographic maps.” The Smallworld Schematics Generator 4 application is a layered product on Smallworld Core Spatial Technology™ 4 software. The latest version of that software was recently commercialized. Smallworld Schematics Generator 4 has several key benefits for the end user. The product has the ability to generate a schematic from a single, easy-to-use process and removes all the complex issues traditionally associated with extracting the GIS data to generate a schematic. It enables the creation of large schematics from complex GIS network data. Users can also quickly identify schematics that have become out-of-date with the core GIS data through the use of the schematics monitor.
