GE to Provide Gas Turbine for French-Caribbean Project BELFORT, FRANCE (October 28, 2003) – Centre d’Ingenierie Technique de Paris, a unit of France’s state-owned electricity company Electricité de France, has selected GE Power Systems to provide a gas turbine-generator for a new power plant at Jarry, Guadeloupe in the French Caribbean. The Jarry Sud project is being built to increase Guadeloupe’s power generation capabilities. Guadeloupe is a French-governed cluster of islands located in the eastern Caribbean Sea, southeast of Puerto Rico. Under its contract of 13.4 million euros, GE will provide a 40-megawatt, Frame 6B gas turbine, generator and turnkey services for the Jarry Sud project. The simple-cycle unit will initially use liquid fuel but the equipment can be retrofitted to allow for dual-fuel capability. The turbine will be assembled at GE’s facility in Belfort, France, on a complete turnkey basis. The equipment is to be delivered to Guadeloupe by May 2004, with installation to be completed by September 2004. The new facility is set to begin commercial operation at the end of November 2004. GE has previously installed several Frame 5 gas turbines at the same Jarry Sud location.
