GE Supplies Four Gas Turbines for Projects Owned by ENDESA of Spain BELFORT, FRANCE (September 25, 2003) Four F-technology gas turbines supplied by GE Energy have entered commercial service at two combined-cycle power plant projects in Spain, and are producing nearly 300 megawatts of power for ENDESA, Spains largest electric utility. The two projects are Barranco de Tirajana in Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, and Son Reus II in Mallorca, Balearic Islands. The four MS6001FA (Frame 6FA) gas turbines were provided to Duro Felguera of Asturias, Spain, the general contractor to ENDESA for both projects. In addition to the gas turbines, GE provided generators and gas turbine auxiliaries including the water injection system for NOx emissions reduction, as well as technical assistance during erection, commissioning, and training. Manufactured in GEs facility in Belfort, France, the four gas turbines are each site-rated at nearly 73 megawatts, operating on liquid fuel. The four units successfully entered into commercial operation during the third quarter of 2003. The units installed in Mallorca effectively supported the strong summer demands for electricity. The Frame 6FA gas turbine is the mid-sized member of GEs fleet of F technology gas turbines, which has achieved 7.8 million hours of commercial service worldwide. To date, 58 GE Frame 6FA gas turbines have been ordered or installed for projects around the world, including 29 in Europe. GE technology is well established in Spain, with 68 gas turbines installed for projects across the country.
