GE Launches Outage Advantage for Turbines and Generators Worldwide ATLANTA, GEORGIA (June 19, 2003) Outage AdvantageSM, a comprehensive range of maintenance services for gas and steam turbine and generator outages, is being introduced by GE Power Systems and will be commercially available by the end of June 2003. Outage Advantage brings together GEs existing maintenance services with a suite of enhanced, integrated outage services that can be customized to meet the needs of power generation and large industrial customers. The new program provides a tiered approach that enables the customer to select services across the complete outage cycle, along with various levels of continuous support, expanded services such as emissions management and expertise for a range of outage needsfrom a single event to a fleet-wide program. Outage Advantage is designed to provide customers with a total outage solution including detailed pre-outage planning, the management and execution of scheduled and emerging work, a reliable return to service and complete post-outage transition. All of this helps our customers optimize their outage for maximum return, said Paul Wood, General Manager of Installation and Field Services at GE Power Systems. We see a gap in the industry for premium outage services, and Outage Advantage is being developed to meet this need. We are focused on the key issues impacting asset optimizationavailability, reliability and performance. The new offering will include leading edge technology for pre- and post-outage performance evaluation, diagnostics and system tuning such as the remote tuning of Dry Low NOx (DLN) systems. It also incorporates a full range of emission testing, monitoring and control solutions, all designed to provide a comprehensive program of services that can increase power plant profitability. Offering a single GE contact for customers, the new program encompasses every step of the outage process and also provides continuous maintenance services supported by GEs Outage Action Center and the availability of dedicated resources for all technical and service needs. This new package of services builds on GEs extensive turbine-generator experience, said Wood. GE has been servicing turbines and generators for more than 100 years and has performed more than 30,000 outages. Through the Outage Advantage program, GEs global resources can be mobilized to provide outage expertise and tools to service turbine-generators virtually anywhere in the world, at any time.
