GE Network Solutions Signs Agreement with Germany’s Third Largest Energy Provider

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (May 28, 2003) — GE Network Solutions, a leading supplier of innovative technology solutions to the utilities industry, has signed an agreement with Energie Baden-Würtemberg AG (EnBW) of Germany to standardize its disparate geo-spatial information systems. With more than 4.2 million customers, EnBW is Germany’s third largest energy business.

Entitled the SUSY-Q Project, source data from EnBW and its affiliate, Neckarwerke Stuttgart AG (NWS AG), host more than 35 databases that will be integrated and managed using a combination of SAP® and GE Network Solutions’ Smallworld™ software products. The new integrated database will help EnBW avoid cost-intensive redundancies and will serve as the strategic asset management tool for EnBW.

Harald Hauser, EnBW’s Regional AG manager comments, “Having recognized the long-term benefit, EnBW and Neckarwerke Stuttgart, are working in close co-operation to standardize today’s heterogeneous GIS and NIS environment. The result will establish a firm base for both technical and commercial processes in our joint network operation businesses that is homogenous and efficient.”

Implementation of GE Network Solutions’ turnkey integration solution will include its Smallworld Design Manager™ product for project planning, Smallworld Internet Server™ software, and Smallworld Business Integrator™ for mySAP.com® products. The SUSY-Q Project is slated for completion during the latter part of 2005.
