Transitioning

Transitioning from the Military

Through our overall benefit structure for all employees, we'll give you personal attention during your move to a new location. Once you sign an acceptance letter for your new position, your manager will request a Move Counselor to help make your move as comfortable and trouble-free as possible.

Family and Employee Assistance

Through our comprehensive GE benefits package, our WorkLife / Families program and our network of Military Officers, we can help you find the services and institutions necessary for your day-to-day life, such as:

  • Public and private schools
  • Daycare and after-school programs
  • Banking institutions
  • Shopping areas
  • Colleges and universities
Catching Up to Your Peers

We conducted a special session to identify areas in which our military employees felt they needed to "catch up" to other GE employees. Some of these areas were:

  • Product knowledge
  • Financial knowledge (specific to GE)
  • Leadership style (how their style works at GE)
  • Exposure to top management
  • Exposure to various business units throughout the company

Recognizing these concerns, we offer special training and development to help former officers in these areas.

Social Camaraderie

Upon transitioning to civilian life, many military officers express the feeling that they are no longer part of a team. In addition to being part of the GE family, we understand that it is still important for you to maintain contact with people from military backgrounds in similar circumstances. We actively seek military talent and, over time, have built a strong military network.
