About GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy
Effective June 4, 2007, General Electric Company transferred its nuclear
energy business to a new enterprise known as GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy
as part of the combination of GE's and Hitachi's nuclear
businesses into a global alliance. GE is the majority owner of the
global alliance entities outside Japan, which include GE Hitachi Nuclear
Energy Americas LLC, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy Canada, Inc., GE Hitachi
Nuclear Energy International LLC and GE Hitachi Global Laser Enrichment
LLC. Employees of GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy participate in GE benefit
and other GE programs.
GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy must comply with United States Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Commerce (DOC) requiring governmental approval of disclosures to certain foreign nationals of most technical information used in GE's nuclear businesses.
Before extension of any offer of employment, the Nuclear business needs to determine whether or not a license is required from the Department of Energy or Department of Commerce. Accordingly, if you are not a US Citizen (including green card holders), you need to bring proof of citizenship with you to your interview on the GE campus. Passport, certificate of naturalization, birth certificate, or other proof of citizenship, are acceptable.
Any offer of employment by the company is contingent upon receiving appropriate government approvals. These can take several weeks to months to process. If government approval cannot be obtained within a reasonable timeframe (2-6 weeks), the company reserves the right to rescind the offer, based upon the candidate's inability to start work within a reasonable period of time.
DOE regulations require DOE notification of any non-US citizen employees (including US green card holders), and specific DOE authorization for disclosures of certain technical information to citizens of the following countries:
