Jump-Start Your Career

Are you interested in spending an exciting co-op semester with GE's Energy team...an incredible few months in which you gain hands-on experience with talented people in a wide range of engineering areas? As a GE co-op or intern, you'll tackle meaningful projects critical to the success of our business, and gain invaluable career skills along the way.

Early Identification (EID) Program

The EID Program is designed to identify high-potential engineering students early in their academic career as possible candidates for one of GE's technical entry programs. The EID Program offers students the opportunity to experience a real-life work environment at GE, while developing the professionalism critical to a successful career.

Every EID assignment offers:

  • Challenging work assignments
  • Formal goal-setting, mid-term and final appraisal processes
  • Multiple resources for each student: manager, mentor, buddy, EID Program manager
  • Networking and social activities
  • Rewards and recognition

EID requirements include:

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Enrollment in a bachelor's degree program
  • Major in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering
  • Demonstrated leadership, self-confidence, initiative, interpersonal skills, analytical ability and ability to adapt to change
  • Valid authorization to work in the U.S.

Student Training Employment Program

STEP provides ongoing opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience, develop skills in an area of interest and gain knowledge about GE while continuing their education. In addition, STEP students will gain insight into the key competencies and work characteristics employers seek.

GE co-ops and interns are members of either the EID (Early Identification) Program or our new Student Training Employment Program (STEP).

STEP is a Program with ongoing opportunities for students who wish to gain hands-on experience, develop skills in an area of interest and gain knowledge about GE while continuing their education. In addition, STEP students will gain insight into the key competencies and work characteristics employers seek.

STEP requirements include:

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA
  • Enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program
  • Various majors accepted
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication and teaming skills

Please note: The STEP program does not provide financial assistance for relocation or housing while on assignment. Therefore we are looking for candidates interested in working in the following GE locations:
